Saturday. October 25, 2008 Everyone who needs hospital services in north Simcoe County today and in the future benefits from the community's support of the Huronia Hospitals Foundation. Your donations make a difference to the new born baby lying on the new infant bed warmer, the senior who can easily get out of the new state-of-art electric bed, the snowmobile accident survivor being warmed by a new hypothermia blanket, the respiratory patient using the latest in breathing support or the child safe in his new pediatric crib the list is endless. The Foundation's main goal is to ensure that the hospitals of the North Simcoe Hospital Alliance - Huronia District Hospital and Penetanguishene General Hospital - have the financial resources necessary to meet their annual capital needs. These capital needs include technology advancements, new patient care medical equipment and furniture, and major improvements to both facilities. The hospitals rely on the Foundation and support from all levels of the community to improve their services and buildings because the majority of these capital needs are not funded by the Ministry of Health. All improvements - whether they are as small as a purchase of a wheelchair or walker or as major as the building of the eight station dialysis unit in Penetanguishene or the total renovations of the two patient care units in Midland - make a difference to the quality of care we provide to patients needing local hospital services.
